Jeannette Berthena Jones

From North Carolina to Tennessee, and on to Lawrence County, Missouri
Clark Stearns

Built first house on the site that is now Lawrence, Kansas.

This book is primarily an attempt to straighten out the confusion between Clark Stearns and Charles Stearns in Lawrence, Kansas.  Clark had moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio, to Michigan, to Iowa, and then to Kansas.  Charles was from Massachusetts, a member of the anti-slavery settlers who moved to Kansas to try to prevent the territory from becoming a slave territory.  In many of the writings about the early settlement of Kansas, these two men are often confused for one another.  I have also included genealogical information on Clark's descendants, along with supporting documentation.  The cost of this book is $10 + postage.

Jeannette Berthena Jones married Loren Elmer Stearns, the grandson of Clark Stearns.  This book contains information on Jeannette's ancestors and descendants, and is very well documented.  I have included images of census records, marriage licenses, World War I draft registrations, obituaries, and tombstones, for a total of over 440 pages.  This book is $25 + postage.

This book will be availabe soon.
